Happy St. Patrick’s Day! | Dogalize
Saint Patrick, known as the “Apostle of Ireland”, is the primary patron saint of Ireland.
Every year on March 17, the Irish and the Irish-at-heart across the globe observe St. Patrick’s Day. What began as a religious feast day for the patron saint of Ireland has become an international festival celebrating Irish culture with parades, dancing, special foods and a whole lot of green.
St Patrick is said to have used the shamrock, a three-leaved plant, to explain the Holy Trinity to the pagan Irish. This is the reason why it is one of the symbol of St. Patrick’s Day, along with the color green. The color green has been associated with Ireland since at least the 1640s, when the green harp flag was used by the Irish Catholic Confederation.
