Cat breeds: the Russian White, Black, and Tabby

The Russian White, Black, and Tabby are cats that were developed from the Russian blue.  So, basically, these cats share the same physical characteristics but different coat color.

Origins

Frances McLeod of Arctic started the development of the Russian Whites and Russian Blacks in the UK in 1960.  On May 4, 1971, Dick and Mavis Jones of Myemgay Cattery started the Russian White program in Australia.   They started by crossing a white Siberian female cat they had acquired from a Thai royal family that came to Australia with a Russian blue tomcat. They obtained a litter of two kittens, one of which they mated back to her sire.  The first generation of Russian Whites registered in 1971 was obtained.  This first crossing also created the Russian Black and the Russian Tabby.

Physical characteristics

The Russian White, Black, and Tabby have a silky and plush coat.  It has a very lustrous shine.  The size of the cats can be from small to medium.  Other than this, they basically share similar characteristics with their foundation, the Russian Blue.

Personality

These cats are very playful but not destructive.  They can spend and entire day entertaining you and they are very unlikely to get bored.  The temperament of the Russian White, Black, and Tabby cat makes them quiet and sensitive.  They are intelligent cats that can learn interesting tricks such as opening doors, toilets, and fetching.

These cats, due to their affectionate nature make great companions.
