Origins
These dogs have existed for centuries. Some of the most famous monarchs that had an English Toy Spaniel dog include Charles I, Charles II, grandson and great grandson of Mary, Queen of Scots, who also loved these dogs. When executed, Queen Mary and Charles I had their little spaniels with them.
Their overall appearance has changed over the years. In Britain, where he is also original from, the Cavalier was given that name to distinguish it from the King Charles Spaniel. When the spaniels arrived in America, people started to call them English Toy Spaniels. The AKC officially recognized them a breed in 1886.

Caring for an English Toy Spaniel dog
These dogs are not too energetic so they might require that much exercise. A short walk around the neighborhood or a short playing time in the yard should be enough for this dog.
