In order to understand how the generator works, you must know a little bit about the Warrior Cats universe works. At least when it comes to the names of the characters, that is.
Let´s take a look at some names in the Warrior Cats universe:

As you can see, the names seem to actually be formed randomly. But it is not so, they each tell an attribute of the cat the name is bestowed upon.
So a Warrior Cat name generator uses a very simple algorithm but follows several rules. The foremost important is that no cat will be named after anything they would not know about. This rules out any man-made object.
The names are made of two parts. The prefix refers to a cat’s aesthetics, usually its color. Basically, it is an adjective. The suffix is a description of the cat’s skill or personality. For example, the suffix fire will refer to a fierce or a passionate cat. The suffix water would tell you that this cat is a great swimmer.
If the cat is less than six months old, the first name will always have the suffix “kit“. After six months, he becomes an apprentice and “kit” is replaced by “paw“. The second name will always have this suffix. When a cat becomes the leader of a clan, his third name will have the suffix “star“.
