Old Friends Senior Dog Sanctuary

Based on the beautiful Mount Juliet, Tennessee, Old Friends Senior Dog Sanctuary is a forever foster home, created to provide a house to senior dogs.  The sanctuary holds around 20 senior dogs and other in temporary or Forever Foster Homes.

The organization provides the means to a quality life for those dogs that are close to going away.   They also seek to raise awareness of the joys and pleasures of living with a senior dog.  All of the workers at the sanctuary are volunteers since this is a non-profit organization.

Why Senior Dogs?

Senior dogs face more diseases or disabilities caused by aging or even a rough life.  At shelters, they also face a greater chance at euthanasia than younger dogs since very few families are willing to take in a senior dog, dut to complications that might arise or unknown veterinary costs.

Senior dogs are actually great pets to have.  They are calm and will be willing to live happily if they are given a chance.  Old Friends Senior Dog Sanctuary provides these dogs the quality of life they deserve for their last days.  As they state it, they are not concerned about how much longer will the dog live but that they live what is left of it happily.

The Dogs

Once the dogs enter the sanctuary, they are promised this to be the first day of the rest of their lives.  They are all nice dogs, which nap a lot and lounge not so much.

If you want to have a nice and wise companion at home, a senior dog is what you need. At Old Friends Senior Dog Sanctuary, they try to get these dogs a great home for them to live.
