Dog Treat Recipes

When it comes to treating our pooches, we have plenty of choices.  Or, basically, we have all commercial options at the store.  These products need to be preserved in good conditions and, therefore, have preservatives.  We have put together three dog treat recipes for you to fix something healthier for your pup.

Do not miss our posts.

Trail Mix

As the name says, you can make a trail mix to treat your pet.  You can combine meat, vegetable, and fruits, all into the same mix.

Ingredients

  • Pieces of meat (Rinse them if they are seasoned.)
  • Vegetables (not onions.)
  • Fruits (not grapes or raisins)
  • Potatoes

Cut these ingredients into 1/2 inch pieces.  Spray the pieces lightly with cooking spray.  Place inside a dehydrator or a preheated oven until dry.

Chicken Treats

You have never heard of a dog that does not love chicken.  Turn it into a treat and he will be the happiest pup.  When it comes to dog treat recipes, this one is a delight as it is easy to prepare.

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup finely diced chicken
  • 1/2 cup cooked rice
  • 3 tbsp rice flour
  • 1 tbsp parsley
  • 1 egg

Preheat your oven to 350F.  Mix all the ingredients together and shake well.  Using a spoon, place the content into silicone moulds.  Bake them for 20-30 minutes or until they look crispy on the top.  Remove from the mould and store inside the fridge.

Sweet Potato Fries

Sweet potatoes seem to be earning praises among our pups when it comes to vegetables. This simple recipe will give your pup a delicious vegetable treat for the day.

Ingredients:

  • 1 sweet potato
  • turmeric or cinnamon
  • 1 tbsp coconut oil

Preheat your oven at 425F.  After washing and peeling the sweet potato, cut it into long pieces (like fries).  Use a Ziploc to coat these sticks with the oil and turmeric or cinnamon. Bake for 15 minutes and then flip the fries to guarantee a uniform baking.

We hope these dog treat recipes inspire you to come up with your own.  Just remember that seasoned food is not entirely good for your pet.  In Dogalize we want to help you become the responsible owner your pooch deserves.  Check out all the amazing resources we have for you.
