The plot

The movie tells the story of two orphans, Andi (Emma Roberts) and Bruce (Jake T. Austin) who con a pawn shop owner in order to get money to buy food for their dog, Friday.  They are caught and taken to the station where they get picked up by social worker Bernie Wilkins (Don Cheadle) who takes them back to their not-so-loving foster parents, Lois and Carl Scudder (Lisa Kudrow and Kevin Dillon).

The next morning, Friday, decides to go look for food and is caught by Animal Control.  Andi and Bruce go on to look for him in the pounds.  They realize that Friday has hidden in an abandoned hotel, along with a tiny Boston Terrier and an English Mastiff, who they call Georgia and Lenny.  They decide to leave them in the abandoned hotel for the night.

The next day, Bruce decides to stay with the dogs to keep them quiet while Andi is at the pet shop looking for food.  Once there she lies to the employees telling them that their parents often rescue dogs.  This makes the two employees beg Andi to take three dogs that noboby wants to adopt and she reluctantly agrees.  With six dogs to care for, things get interesting for this orphans as adventure and comic situations ensue.
